The Fire Stays Perfect

The Columbus Fire stayed undefeated on the season and went to 4-0 with a 34-12 defeat of the Pataskala Chaos.  The Chaos was no push over and played a hard fought game despite the score.  The Fire defense was stingy as usual, only giving up one offensive score with five seconds left in the game and the outcome long decided. Cardell Denby led the defense with 8 tackles and a sack, Eric Robinson and Steve Brinkley were also very active with 7 tackles each.
The offense was balanced with Joe Hayes passing for 180 yards and a TD, and with Chad Woodfork leading a scoring drive passing for 50 yards and a TD with 2 rushes for 40 yards. Ralphiel Hughley continued to show he is a threat to score from anywhere on the field racking up 142 yards and 2 TDs on the ground with a 51 yard touchdown run in the second quarter that opened the game up.  Mark Ratliff pulled in 6 catches for 95 yards and Gary Smith caught 3 passes for 122 yards and a TD.  Seth Buckhalter was money on all his kicks, nailing two field goals from 42 yards out, going 4 for 4 on extra points and averaging 45.5 yards a punt.
Come see the Fire back in action this Saturday against the Capitol City Thunder at 3:30 at Finland Middle School, 1825 Finland Ave.
